Bush Paints Positive Picture Of Iraq War Rumsfeld Stays Upbeat On Iraqi Troop Readiness ------------------------OR IS THIS THE TRUTH------------------------ Only One Iraqi Battalion Ready To Go It Alone, Top U.S. Commander Says Iraq Instability Jeopardizes U.S. Troop Cuts, General Says 9/29/05 Republicans Running Scared
It is plain as day to all that observed the actions of the republicans yesterday that they are running scared. After seeing them scurry all over capital hill claiming "the sky isn't falling the sky isn't falling" there is no denying that they are truly afraid. The fear was all too apparent after watching Tom Delay's actions after he was indicted and had to resign his post as house majority leader. Delay held a press conference in which he came out spitting and fighting saying "this is one of the weakest most baseless indictments in US history," then began railing against the prosecutor Ronnie Earle and finished by thumbing his nose at the entire proceedings. It was clear he was a frightened cornered rat. A mere hour after this telling outburst, and a closed door session of several Republicans, Delay emerged and called for another press briefing in which he changed his tune 180 degrees. As if it would quell the overwhelming stench of fear, Delay had seemingly found a new sense of civility (quite out of character for a man nicknamed "The Hammer", don't you think?). He was now stating that the indictment had unified the Republican Party and that it had somehow made them even more committed to achieving their agenda. Then things went all weird. Delay said "if the democrats think we are just going to crawl into a hole as they use this incident for their partisan politics of personal destruction their dead wrong". Why was this strange you ask? Well, not one Democrat had even uttered a single syllable about Delay or his indictment all day. In politics I guess they would call Delay's move a preemptive strike on some expectant and well-deserved incoming fire. Sniff, sniff.... Ahh, the stink of fear. To further prove that the Republicans are terrified and desperately seeking back the sweet love of the American people they just today held a televised press conference of their top Military officials, who stated that things are going so swimmingly in Iraq that troops might be coming home sooner than expected. What makes this such a desperate and transparent move is that it was only earlier this week that Dubya said he would absolutely not set a timetable for the troops to return home. It's amazing what low poll numbers, a Delay indictment, a Frist probe, and the Rove Plame-gate scandal will make a god fearing Republican do. Methinks the GOP doth protest too much! 9/29/05
