Oh lordy I do love this picture! Tuesday 12:58 pm 7/19/05 Oh Karl... You're So Fucked! Plame's Identity Marked As Secret Thursday 8:05 pm 7/21/05
Bush honesty rating drops to lowest point By Mark Murray Tuesday 12:58 pm 7/19/05 Good For You Republicans! Should Karl Rove Be Fired If He Leaked Classified Information? All Republicans Independents Democrats In September 2003, 91% of Americans said, someone who leaked classified information should be fired. The question at that time did not identify Karl Rove as the possible source of the information. Tuesday 12:10 pm 7/19/05 When It Rains It Pours
Last Thursday Egypt confirmed that its top envoy to Iraq has been killed. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses their deep sadness at the martyrdom of its ambassador, Dr. Ihab al-Sherif, head of the diplomatic delegation. The Al Qaeda affiliate who beheaded Sherif listed Egypt among the "first to wage this war against Islam" and criticized its policies and alliances, particularly those with the United States and Israel. Officials announced two U.S. Marines had been killed on Thursday when a homemade bomb hit their vehicle during combat operations near Trebil, in Anbar province. A double suicide bombing targeted a checkpoint to Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone on Thursday, killing one person and wounding five others. Among the wounded was a potential third suicide bomber. Two Iraqi civilians were killed in separate incidents Thursday in northern Iraq. One died in an insurgent mortar attack near a military checkpoint in Tal Afar, and the other was killed after failing to slow his car as he approached a patrol in Mosul when the driver didn't yield to warning shots. On Friday there were at least 7 suicide attacks in three different cities in Iraq which killed 30 people and wounded 75. An insurgent attack at an Iraqi army checkpoint at the southern entrance to Khales on Monday killed seven soldiers. The attack left two other soldiers and three civilians wounded. On Saturday another suicide bomber detonated his explosives near a propane fuel tanker parked near a gas station south of Baghdad in the center of Musayyib killing at least 60 and wounding as many as 100 people. Two U.S. Marines were killed Sunday during combat operations in Hit, west of Baghdad Gunmen attacked a checkpoint near the headquarters of the Iraqi Police Major Crimes Unit in western Baghdad on Thursday killing two police officers and wounding four others. On Tuesday In Beirut a powerful explosion hit the motorcade of Lebanon's outgoing deputy prime minister, Elias Murr (an ally of Syria who is also the outgoing defense minister) . It wound him and caused other casualties in the latest in a string of bombings targeting politicians and other figures. It seems that the amicable feelings between the Palestinians and Israelis have fallen apart. The Israeli air force unleashed air strikes on three alleged Hamas weapons labs late Friday. This comes after Palestinian rocket attacks on Thursday killed an Israeli woman... Palestinian sources said the attacks killed seven militants. In Addition thirty Palestinians who wee accused of being terrorists were arrested early Friday I take no pleasure in stating that freedom is not on the march in the Middle East. I don't understand how anyone could believe that peace can come out a pre-emptive/unnessesary war, that truth can grow from lies, or that freedom can thrive amidst occupation. It is a physical, psychological and spiritual impossibility. It is clear to see that the Iraqi people as well as all of the people in the Middle East want freedom... I just believe they want their own version of freedom and not the one George Bush and his cabal of Neocons have picked out for them. Saturday 6:45 pm 7/16/05 A Bad Week For BushCo
This last week for George Bush and his administration has been a debacle. For me it's been maddening to watch BushCo and his brigade of pundit shills try and spin the tragedies in London and Bush's deputy Chief Of Staff Karl Rove's leak-gate into some thing positive and/or try to fault the Democrats somehow. On the London bombings I actually saw a right leaning talking head from the New York Post (which is also owned by Rupert Murdock who owns the Fox "News" Network) say that the bombings in London helps George Bush because it focus him on the one thing he does well which is... "Fight terrorism". Really now? Hasn't Dubya been saying were fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here?... Tell that to the people of London you asshole! These lunatics who perpetrated this atrocity were probably trained in Iraq. Hell even if they weren't it just goes to prove Bush's theory even more incorrect. Oh yeah... If I hear one more reporter, politician or journalist use the word "resolve" again I'm gonna' hurt someone! It's a fucking stain remover for clothes and that's all! We must all remember that this is coming directly on the heels of BushCo cutting back funding for the New York transit system in order to keep their tax cuts in place. This is only because bush doesn't want to follow in the footsteps of his father George "read my lips" Bush senior. You can't get more wrongheaded! Oh one more thing. I wanted to ask the people of London how they felt about Bill O'reilly saying on the day of the attacks "I hope they (London residents) have learned their lesson now"? Isn't he a class act? On the Karl Rove front, right wing telelepundits have been spinning like whirling dervishes to deflect blame from Bush's brain. Today I heard the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Ken Mehlman, say Rove never mentioned Valerie Plame by name. Mehlman went on to say when speaking (leaking) to reporters he only referred to Plame as ambassador to Africa Joe Wilson's wife who works works for the C.I.A.. When one breaks it down it's kind of like when Clinton said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"... meaning she only blew me. Today I even heard Pat Buchanan claim Karl Rove "just made an excited utterance and who hasn't blurted something out that they haven't regretted"... Problem is Pat, he definitely did it once (Time Magazine's Matthew Cooper), maybe twice (The Boston Globe's Bob Novak) and quite possibly three times (The New York Times Judith Miller). That's a lot of blurting! The right wing-nuts are also trying to mix up the facts and pull a switcharoo i.e. White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan. I believe the talking points now are that Rove was just trying to correct misinformation in these reporters' stories. You see these journalists believed that Vice President Cheney sent Joe Wilson to Niger When in fact Rove said to the reporters "it was Joe Wilson's wife who works at the C.I.A. sent him... Whoops... Did I just let that slip?... Now promise me you guys wont print that". See Karl was just trying to help. Another tactic the right is trying to employ is the hackneyed answer-all "it's just another left wing smear campaign from the dirty mean party of no". Yes... The Godless democrats are just making these scurrilous facts up. We're so bad and naughty... shame shame shame on us for uncovering a crime! On a final note I would like to point your attention to the gigantic shit-eating grin on Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid's face today. I believe this has been planted there because he sees Karl Rove as a bargaining chip now. Hear me out. Reid and the Democrats know Bush would be even more lost without Rove so when it come time to pick a supreme court justices I think the Dems will say Hey I'll trade you two moderate judges for one fat Karl Rove. Just a thought... By the way I must concede that I take great pleasure watching George Bush step in a huge pile of shit of his own making especially when his "Turd Blossom" (Bush's nickname for Rove... really... I'm not kidding) is planted square in the middle of it! Wednesday 5:42 am7/13/05
To all those who lost loved a loved one or had someone close to you injured in the terrorist bombings in England yesterday please let me give you my condolences. As a New Yorker who lived one mile from ground zero when September 11th occurred, my stomach sank and my heart ached when I watched the all too familiar carnage spilled over the 24-hour news channels. As the events played out I all too readily recognized the blank trance-like expressions of shock as people made their way home. Once again, please accept my deepest sympathies and allow me to wish you a quick healing process. Our hearts are with you... Friday 5:17 pm 7/8/05 Novak And The Plame Outing
For some time now I have been following the outing of C.I.A. operative Valerie Plame and the Justice Departments efforts to get those responsible for committing the deed to give up the names of their sources. The Boston Globe's Bob Novak, Time Magazine’s Matthew Cooper and The New York Times Judith Miller all wrote pieces outing Plame for their respective employers. Now just today Mr. Cooper was given permission by his source to testify in front of the grand jury but it seems that Mrs. Miller, who got no such reprieve from her source, will be serving at least 4 months for her story though it was never even published. Despite my scrutiny of the proceedings I still have one question that I really really really need answered... What the fuck about Bob Novak? Why isn't he going to be doing time right next to Judith Miller? He wrote and leaked the story before either of the other two, still hasn't revealed his sources and yet he has remained unscathed and untouched by the proceedings! This has happened despite the fact that the C.I.A. asked him to refrain from publishing the story. WHY ISN'T HE GOING DOWN!?!? Now please understand that I do believe that these three reporters should be made to reveal their sources since they released classified information by leaking the name of Valerie Plame. She, at the time, was a covert C.I.A. undercover agent and by releasing her name the journalists in question put not only her but also her contacts in harms way. A 1982 law makes knowingly disclosing the identity of a covert agent a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. What makes this doubly egregious is that the Plame outing was basically a "gotcha" story perpetrated as retaliation by the Bush administration against Plame's husband Joe Wilson who blew the whistle on George Bush for lying in a speech about Saddam Hussein seeking significant quantities of uranium from Africa." Now having said this how does Bob Novak get a free pass? Does he have something on the current administration that has made them back off? Does he have some special immunity for some yet unknown reason? Inquiring minds seem not to care. I haven't the slightest clue as to how he is skating on the entire fiasco but I do so hope someday in the near future we get to find out. In the meantime will someone please hold this Republican shill's feet to the fire if just for the sake of appearances? Cooper and Miller are being held accountable for their actions why shouldn't Novak? The Valerie Plame Outing Timeline Wednesday 9:42 pm 7/6/05
