I Didn't Know Bush's Speech Last Night Was A Repeat.
Last night I was wondering why I had such a hard time coming up with anything to say/write about Bush's pep rally for the Iraq war. Then today it dawned on me that the reason was because Bush said absolutely nothing that hadn't already said or written about. So rather than rehashing everything that has been said previously on the subject of the Iraqi war here are just a few things that popped into my head as I watched the speech last night:
· Bush pushed for support for troops. Does no one realize that this is his underhanded way of asking for support for "his" war?
· Why does Bush fail to realize is that the average American, without hesitation, support the troops... They just don't him or his Policies
· Bush regurgitated the false notion that Iraq had direct ties to what happened on 9-11(8 references in all). The problem here is that the independent 9-11 council already disproved this canard over a long long time ago. Read the report Mr. Bush.
· Bush regurgitated the false notion that Iraq and Saddam Hussein had direct ties to Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban. He tenuously tried to tie them together with the statement that they shared the same "murderous ideology". Once again it was proven that Saddam Hussein doesn't but the terrorists/insurgents that showed up after he was toppled by the Bush war machine sure do.
· Fight them over there and not here was Bush implored. Most everyone believes we wouldn't have to fight them at all if we hadn't gone into Iraq. The problem now is that the terrorist that really did attack on 9-11 sees Iraq as the ultimate training ground for those that have the same "murderous ideology". When the war eventually ends and our troops pull out there will be a huge contingency of hardened, well-trained super-terrorists.
· Bush claimed there were 160,000 trained Iraqi Soldiers. The important part he left out is the fact that only 15,000 are ready for combat of any kind at all.
· Bush also failed to address any policy change for the training Iraqi troops outside of Iraq. Many Middle Eastern countries have offered to help with the training only to be told "No thanks". BushCo knows this would give these Countries a foot in the door as to how they believe the Iraq was should be handled in the future... Believe me the Bush administration wants this baby all to themselves.
· Bush made an attempt to say Americans never turn and run in the face of a threat. So in other words Dubya says if you are against the war you are Un-American and a coward! Really now.
· Bush demanded that we pay proper attention and homage to the coalition of the willing. Remember those on the dwindling list of countries that are still there only have 100 or 200 troops representing them.
· Bush never addressed the human rights violations that occurred and still occur in Abu Ghraib and Guantanimo Bay.
· Bush never addressed the weapons of mass destruction or lack thereof.
· Bush never addressed the deadly mistakes made after the main bombing campaign ended... Or as George likes to put it "Mission Accomplished"!
· Bush never addressed where all the rice, candy and flower throwing Iraqis are hiding.
· Bush never addressed whether the oil in Iraq will ever pay dime one towards the war effort.
· Bush said the biggest thing we can do is support his war... ah ahem... I mean our troops is to wave flags around and log into the BushCo's brand spanking new website (which I wont advertise here) on the 4th of July... Weeeeeeee Haw! Signs me up 'cus I sure can do that!
· ... And what was the pathetic paltry theatrics of Bush crying like a bitch at the end of the speech? Oh, please don't tell me you missed it! Hey George, that shtick is wearing way thin.
All in all I'd give the speech a solid 6 to 7 on the jingoistic patriotic scale. It will most likely buy Bush about six more weeks of leeway. If the Republicans decide stage some manufactured photo op or perhaps catch another 20th hijacker in might get them an extra 2 weeks at best. After the 6 to 8 week time limit elapses all bets, I believe, will be off... even in Bush's own base and party.

The Bitch Of Baghdad
Let me make on thing clear... I have no love for Saddam Hussein . He is a megalomaniacal self-indulgent murderer. Let continue me by saying that I have no love for the insurgents in Iraq either. They are cowardly zealots who send feeble minded half-wits to blow themselves up in the midst of innocent civilians. They are both special kinds of evil who deserved each other.
In stating this did you ever wonder how Saddam Hussein kept control over these bloodthirsty insurgents that inhabited Iraq when he was the president there? Did you ever stop to think that Saddam Hussein, whom George Bush delighted in labeling "The Butcher Of Baghdad", kept the peace, as well as running water, running electricity, and the innocent civilians safe of Iraq for close to 25 years. Hell, we can't even control the place for a New York minute. Some would say Hussein achieved this by killing hundreds of thousand of his own countrymen in a premeditated act of genocide. Yet with all the mass graves we've dug up in Iraq don't you sometimes wonder if the number of people we will kill by the end of this debacle of a war won't be dangerously close to what Saddam might have accumulated in his entire rule in Iraq? Our troops so far have killed an estimated 100,000 to 110,000 "enemy combatants" (not to mention the thousands languishing in our prisons) and somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000 innocent civilians and we aren't even close to wrapping this occupation up. It makes one wonder if Saddam Hussein was really "The Butcher Of Baghdad" or just a brutal realist doing what he had to do to keep control in a lawless land filled with crazed killers?
Now ponder this... Even with all of our the technically advanced firepower and our specially trained troops George Bush's war machine hasn't even begun to put a cap on the uprising in Iraq. In addition all of our efforts to snuff out the insurgents omly seems to have only pissed them off and has only served to ratchet up the enemies recruitment abilities while our enlisties dwindle. BushCo's efforts in nation building in every area appears to be an utter failure as well as an exercise in futility. This I submit to you makes George Bush: "The Bitch Of Baghdad".

President Bush claims that today's election in Iran was a sham. Bush on the other hand claimed the Egyptian elections, which were obviously skewed towards his buddy Mubarak as well as Saudi Arabia's modest moves toward "free" elections, were examples of democracy running rampant in the Middle East due to his victory in Iraq. Hmmm... His hypocrisy knows no bounds. To many it clearly appears to be a pre-emptive American effort to challenge the Iranian vote. No shit?!?

Jebediah Joins The Blame Game
The Schiavo family went on television yesterday to debate the fact that their daughter's autopsy reports definitively showed that she was in a persistent vegetative state. The family when pressed on the findings shot back with the obvious answer... Her husband tried to kill her! Thusly avoiding the autopsy's and medical communities findings once again.
Well now it appears their slanderous claims haven't fallen on deaf ears. Florida governor Jeb Bush today found it to be his evangelical duty to look into the Schindler families' allegations and pressed the authorities for an investigation into the bloodthirsty Michael Schiavo.
Ahh, anything to divert attention from their mistakes and lies. How unrefreshing.

Hey, Democrats... Do me a favor. Don't let the Bush administration off the hook by forcing them to close Guantanimo Bay. You have already made sure that you're on the record saying Gitmo is a debacle as well as a frighteningly successful tool for recruiting terrorist. Now you must understand that because of the Bush administrations unfathomable egos they will vehemently disagree with you and will of course refuse to shut the place down. With this having taken place just sit back and let the cauldron boil... let it fester and become a raging pussy boil that will undoubtedly explode in their smug faces.
P.S. Someone tell Dick Durbin to chill out. No more Hitler/Nazi comparisons please! Leave that type of hyperbole to Rick Santorum.

I Guess God Is A Liar
Remember last February and March when all those wise, sage and holier than thou evangelical Christians took up battle stations behind Terri Schiavo's parents and told us that their daughter Terri was a functioning person who could follow commands and make reasoned judgments. They claimed god told them it was his will that she be kept alive since after all she was a functioning part of society like you or I. Well, Terri Schiavo's autopsy report came out today and it turns out... umm... they were all wrong. Man, to believe god would lie to those poor people and make them look like such jackasses. What a bastard!
Jon Thogmartin, the medical examiner for Florida's District Six, said the results from Schiavo's autopsy showed that her brain damage "was irreversible, and no amount of therapy or treatment would have regenerated the massive loss of neurons," Thogmartin then said. "Her brain was profoundly atrophied," and "The vision centers of her brain were dead". This little tidbit of knowledge must have come as quite a shock to Republican Senate Majority Leader and fully licensed doctor, Bill Frist, who claimed that by watching the now infamous videos of Mrs. Schiavo he could tell she visually recognized her family... Oops! Where exactly did Frist get his medical degree? Thogmartin went on to say that he looked at other causes for the collapse such as physical abuse, drugs, strangulation or heart failure and ruled them all out. Isn't it a bitch when modern medicine trumps the rabid evangelical bible thumping?
To make it perfectly clear I give you the words of Dr. Michael Badden, former Chief Medical Examiner of New York City and present chief forensic pathologist for the New York State Police: "Terri Schiavo's brain tissue died from oxygen depravation in 1990 and the brain's dead cells atrophied leaving a brain that weight only half that of a normal functioning person". It doesn't get much more clear-cut than that.
In light of this plethora of contrary information some stubborn religious zealots seem not to be able to handle being proven wrong. This has caused all of the spotlight craving pro-life Schiavo pundits to crawl out of their holes and began spewing half brained half-truths. This list unfortunately includes the Schindlers' attorney, David C. Gibbs III. The Florida fundamentalist Christian attorney, who despite having had his nose rubbed in his all his lies and slander, resumed the blame game by implying that Michael Schiavo was the cause of his wife brain damage. The best the smarmy Gibbs could do was to point to what he called an unexplained gap in 1990 between the time Michael Schiavo has said his wife collapsed, at 4:30 a.m., and the time a 9-1-1 call was made, at 5:40 a.m., according to the medical examiner's report." I think those 70 minutes are very, very troubling. Gibbs went on to say that "Michael Schiavo is the only person who was there." and he did not know if the gap was investigated at the time. The only problem with this accusation is that it is of course a lie. George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney, said on Wednesday there was no time gap. He pointed to Michael Schiavo's testimony in a malpractice trial in which he described hearing a thud, finding his wife on the floor and calling 9-1-1 immediately.
Will someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with these Christian whack-jobs or as Howard Dean likes to call them... Republicans. Even with the medical report right there in front of their faces they still can't admit that they were mistaken. Half a brain they say... Only because she wasn't given therapy immediately. She wasn't following the balloon or recognizing her family in the videos like you said because she is completely blind... Well, that just proves she had an incredible sense of smell and that's how she identified her family (I shit you not... Gibbs said it!). All of the portions of her brain that control thought processes and personality were literally missing say's the autopsy... Hey, did we mention her husband probably tried to kill her. It's fucking insanity. Well I guess if you believe that a big invisible man in the sky created the world in 6 days believing a woman with a half a brain is just like you and me isn't such a stretch.

Why Are Republicans Ashamed?
It's kinda nice to see the Republicans agenda fail so miserably in Bush's second term. It is an affirmation of sorts that you cannot lie to the American people and profit from those untruths.
An example that the second term Bush agenda is failing (and they know) it is the media war the Republicans are choosing to wage against Howard Dean. It's quite obvious that this attack is being perpertrated in order to take the light off their glaring failures. All you have to do is ask yourself why anyone would chose to point out the fact that Dean is a lose cannon with a temper and a big mouth... Stop the presses! Really now, you could have knocked me over with a feather. Republicans seem to delight in pointing out everything he says that might be deemed as controversial. Take for instance Dean's statement that the Republican party is comprised of mostly white Christians. First off it's true, and furthermore when did it become an insult to be called a white Christian. It's weird, they delight in their religious zeal but seem to shrink from being labeled as religious? One could almost draw a direct parallel to the behavior of the Democrats when the Republicans call them liberals... Why would that be something to shrink away from? Once again it's just odd to me... I like being called a progressive liberal... A lot!
Now in the case of Republicans being a white Christian party one only has to go to the stat sheet to see that 85% of registered GOP members say they are just that. What's the reason for all the drama? To further the point, look at what Texas Gov. Rick Perry did down in Texas last week. Perry chose the Gymnasium of The Calvary Christian Academy as a backdrop to put his signature to legislation restricting abortions and sign a resolution to amend the Texas Constitution by banning same-sex marriages.. If that doesn't scream white christians nothing does!
I just don't understand it? Republicans took such great pleasure in voting against and defeating the godless homosexuals and the East and West coast Liberal elite last November one would think they would be proud of what their party represents. Yet when Howard Dean outs the Republicans for what they are; big ol' fat white conservative evangelicals who reside in beautiful fly-over country they all of the sudden get their hackles up. Come on now you silly Republicans... "YOUR HERE YOUR WHITE GET USED TO IT"!
On a final note about the republicans head-hunting for Howard Dean take the comments of cuddly Dick Cheney... "I've never been able to understand his (Howard Dean) appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does." Yeah, that means a great deal from a man that was probably hatched!

Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em!
The Supreme Court has ruled that Individuals in the 10 states that allow the use of medical marijuana to be arrested and prosecuted in violation of their local drug laws. A woman by the name of Angel Raitts went before the Supreme Court and testified how Cannabis helps control her pain and augment her appitite. Raitts, who suffers from an inoperable brain tumor, chronic wasting disease, scoliosis and recently diagnosed cervical cancer stated that "I cannot take synthetic opiates and only marijuana helps me to eat and stay alive,". Her testemony, needless to say, fell on deaf ears.
Those who oppose medical marijuana state that it is a gateway drug to harder more powerful narcotics. I wonder what gateway drug Raitts will move onto after she is rendered helpless and immobile by her DEATH! I truly think that for Raitts, and those like her, pot and the gateway drugs it might lead to are the very least of their problems.
Let's be honest shall we. Marijuana is a plant and grows easily and cheaply in just about any reasonably climate. It cost very little to produce, is 100% natural and is way more cost effective and efficient than anything Pfizer, Merck or Eli Lilly has to offer. The bottom line is that politicians rake in huge campaign endorsements from drug conglomerates and it is in their best interest to keep marijuana, medical or otherwise, out of the hands of the American people.
Now take a moment and ask yourself if you believe that is the real reason Cannabis remains illegal is that the government believes it's an evil gateway drug... if you said yes then you should also make it a point to protest the biggest gateway intoxicant ever... beer! (Don't you dare!) If you havn't killed all your brain cells yet I'm sure you will realize most kids crack open a beer way before they ever thought they were cool enough to try a splif!
