You Magnificent Bastard!

" Magnificent " blurted Dick Morris on Fox Network's Hannity & Colmes' after speech Bushapalooza praise-a-thon. Immediately following this exuberant outburst the shows sniveling liberal co-host Alan Colmes asked Morris "what would you say to democrats right now" whereupon Dick spewed "they should just shut up!". Morris' outburst sounded as though he were a love struck pubescent coming to the defense of his lady love which rang especially true after he referred to Bush's speech as " a female speech " (Eeewwww!). The hyper exuberant overreactions of Dick Morris even made the king of all Bush suck ups, Sean Hannity, squirm in his chair uncomfortably.

On other networks the consensus, even among staunchly conservative pundits, was that the speech was one made out of necessity, that it was well delivered (read off the teleprompter), and most of all they wondered how in the fuck was Bush's ass going to cash the checks his mouth had just written. From Chuck Scarborough to Tucker Carlson to Monica Crowley to Pat Buchanan they all asked how is Bush going to come up with the over " 200 BILLION" dollars they estimated it would cost to rebuild the Gulf Coast and set all of his restorative policies into action? The pundits lamented, who was going to pay for these undeniably Liberal ideas?

What wasn't liberal about Bush's speech though were the Tax breaks for companies that are going to rebuild the Gulf Coast. Why at this point doesn't he just say companies like Halliburton that contributed to my political campaigns and be done with it. It's no secret any more. To prove my point just look at Joe Allbaugh, the previous head of FEMA who is now a lobbyist and consultant. It turnws out that Allbaugh was in New Orleans a week ago and has already secured no bid contracts for the Fluor Corporation, a major Republican donor, even before the Superdome was emptied. Hey Dubya, it's no longer a secret that your just a pimp for big business.

The reaction of the locals watching the president on TV (By the way, no one was allowed within shouting distance of Bush) was that he was lying about the progress that had been made on the ground. You see, the only power in the area were the generators used to illuminate Jackson Square, which went immediately dark after they were shut down and carted off when Bush's speech had concluded. As far as Dubya's overblown rhetoric, the consensus of the locals was "we will believe it when we see it.

On a final note, two parts of Bush's speech really made me smile. The first of these was when Bush accepted blame even after he and his Neocon hit men had tried to demonize everyone on the left for playing the "blame game". I guess the Democrats were right all along about his being at fault. The other aspect of the speech that brought me delight on two levels was that Bush promised over 200 hundred billion dollars to all the destitute minorities who were so badly injured and displaced by Hurricane Katrina so they could start new businesses and buy new homes... First off I am glad the homeless and jobless of the Gulf Coast will get new housing and job opportunities in their time of need and two... Oh Boy that's gotta' chap the asses of all you fly over country livin', science hating, county music listening, city folk hatin', gun lovin' white, evangelical, born again, rubes who thought all this administrations money was gonna go towards faith based initiatives, shutting down abortion clinics and funding ads for anti homosexual constitutional amendments! Ahhhh, good times!

Last night Bush basically made hugely unrealistic promises to appease the African Americans who saw death and mayhem foisted upon them as a direct result of his impotence, incompetence and lack of response. It's a bribe to forgive his failure. The question is will he keep these promises and does he have the means to carry out his "Magnificent" adventure?

Bush's Spin Machine Plants The Seed Then Sits Back And Let's It Grow

ABC's Stephanopoulos repeated school bus falsehood spread by Pruden, Hannity, and Gingrich

On September 11, ABC host George Stephanopoulos repeated a falsehood that had
reverberated through the right-wing media the preceding week -- that "there were 2,000
buses under water" that New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin could have used to evacuate
his city before Hurricane Katrina's arrival. The Only problem is that As of 2003, the most
recent year for which data appears to be available, the Orleans Parish school district, which
operates New Orleans' public schools, owned only 324 school buses. In addition, a
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development profile of the New Orleans
Regional Transit Authority (RTA), last updated May 5, notes that RTA owned 364 public
buses, bringing the total of the city's public transit and school buses to fewer than 700
(assuming the fleet of school buses has not been dramatically increased since 2003).

FEMA director Brown resigns (CNN)

Embattled Brown Resigns As FEMA Chief (APP)

9/12/05

Who Knew The F In F.E.M.A. Stood For Fraud

A phony, a crony and a fraud!

Well it turns out that as of today Vice Admiral Thad Allen of the Coast Guard and Principal Federal Official (PFO) will be overseeing Hurricane Katrinas response and recovery efforts in the field. Allen will be replacing embattled FEMA Director Michael Brown who has been sent packing according to him "to go home and walk my dog and hug my wife, and maybe get a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and a full night's sleep". Boy, doesn't he deserve it!

Brown, besides being a spectacular failure, has turned out to be a gigantic fraud and a world-class recipient of President Bush's serial cronyism. Not only was his experience before entering F.E.M.A. sorely lacking (He was the manager of The International Arabian Horse Association which he was fired from after group members questioned his handling of a $50,000 gift) but on top of that he was handed the F.E.M.A. job through extreme cronyism. You see Brown was the previous head of F.E.M.A. Joe Allbaugh's college roommate. Allbaugh by the way also got the job through cronyism as well by being President Dubya's campaign manager in 2000. All this, while being very interesting, pales in comparison to Michael Browns most impressive skill, resume padding... Shall we take a gander?

1. Michael Brown claimed he was "assistant city manager with emergency services oversight," and a White House news release in 2001 said Brown had worked for the city of Edmond, Oklahoma in the 1970s "overseeing the emergency-services division." However, a city spokeswoman said Brown had actually worked as "an assistant to the city manager." "The job Brown held was more like an entry-level, intern-type job for somebody who's interested in learning about government". In addition former city manager Bill Dashner remarked, "He was very loyal. He was always on time. He always had on a suit and a starched white shirt." Weeeeeeeeee!

2." FindLaw is a legal Web site where attorneys can post information about themselves. At this site under the "honors and awards" section Michael Brown lists that he was an "Outstanding Political Science Professor at Central State University". However, Brown "wasn't a professor here, he was only a student here," says Charles Johnson, News Bureau Director in the University Relations office at the University of Central Oklahoma. Oops!

3. Under the heading of "Professional Associations and Memberships" on FindLaw, Brown states that from 1983 to the present he has been director of the Oklahoma Christian Home, a nursing home in Edmond. But an administrator with the Home told TIME Magazine that Brown is "not a person that anyone here is familiar with." She says there was a board of directors until a couple of years ago, but she couldn't find anyone who recalled him being on it. According to FEMA Brown said, "he's never claimed to be the director of the home. He was on the board of directors, or governors of the nursing home." However, a veteran employee at the center since 1981 says Brown "was never director here, was never on the board of directors, was never executive director. He was never here in any capacity. I never heard his name mentioned here." Can't make it any clearer than that.

4.   The official White House announcement of Brown's nomination to head FEMA in January 2003 lists his previous experience as "the Executive Director of the Independent Electrical Contractors," a trade group based in Alexandria, Va. But two officials of the group told Newsday this week that Brown never was the national head of the group but did serve as the executive director of a regional chapter, based in Colorado.   In addition, Brown's immediate successor as the Rocky Mountain executive director, Terry Moreland, recalled that Brown held the job for less than six weeks before accepting a job at FEMA in 2001.

5. Brown's FindLaw profile lists a wide range of areas of legal practice, from estate planning to family law to sports. However, one former colleague does not remember Brown's work as sterling. Stephen Jones, a prominent Oklahoma lawyer who was lead defense attorney on the Timothy McVeigh case, was Brown's boss for two-and-a-half years in the early '80s. "He did mainly transactional work, not litigation," says Jones. "There was a feeling that he was not serious and somewhat shallow." Jones says when his law firm split, Brown was one of two staffers who was let go.

An interesting thing to note is that Brown's bio was updated as recently as Thursday morning by somebody, whoever manages that account, be it Brown himself or somebody in his office."

As of today FEMA Director Michael Brown has been relieved of duty and it is being forecasted that he will be officially fired after this weekend. Count it as faux soldier #1 to fall on Bush's failure sword.

We Won't Get Fooled Again... And Again, And Again And Again...

I suspect you have been following the news of the disaster that is Hurricane Katrina. I expect you are, as I, am outraged by the underwhelming response of our government to this overwhelming catastrophe. If you have been following these events and feel the same way I do there is something I would like to share with you. If you think our citizens and our media are savaging our government and our president here in the states you should see the pillorying they are taking in other countries. Even in places we like to refer to as third world counties are sitting back and wondering how such utter ineptitude and mismanagement could have occurred here. Just for the hell of it try going to the Internet search engine of your choice and type in a countries name along with the word "newspaper". When a link pops up that strikes your fancy click on it and take a gander at their headlines. The vitriol and disbelief is plentiful. The world is taken aback that the notion that the self-proclaimed "most powerful country on the earth" can't even take care of the weakest members of its supposedly advanced and superior society. We are a laughing stock... Especially if you take into account that countries like Cuba, Iran and Venezuela are offering us relief aid!!!!! Now that's rich!

The more I see and read the more I realize that we are a teetering house of cards that a storm named Katrina almost knocked over. How much more do you think it would take to flatten us? Another 9-11, an attack in our subway systems, or maybe just another catastrophic act from mother nature? The possibilities of that are terrifying considering we are just now getting underway with hurricane season.

I am also having a hard time because on some level I feel like saying to those in the Gulf Coast "Hey you voted this jackass into office" on "Your fear of gay marriage, the horror that is stem cell research and your gullibility that there was an imminent terrorist attack aimed at the heart of your target free fly-over country". These non-issues swayed you enough to put a chimp in a human suit into office... Part of me screams, "You reap what you sew". The other part of me screams at myself for thinking such a thing.

I know I must refrain from this type of thought when I see the suffering and death the people are enduring. I have to believe that the people of the Gulf Coast had no clue that the Bush administration would de-fund efforts to shore up the vulnerable city's levees by 80 per cent to pay for a war built upon lies. I have to believe that the people of the Gulf Coast had no clue that the Bush administration would reduce 35% of the Louisiana's National Guard to shuttle them off to Iraq. I have to believe that the people of the Gulf Coast couldn't see that Bush, a fraud of a human being, didn't care about you and is at best incompetent and at the very worse an out and out class bigot.

I also have to realize that these derisive thoughts that ricochet around my mind are a direct result of Bush and his administrations divisive tactics that are ripping this country apart along it's political and ideological lines. I am ashamed that I sometimes fall into this trap.

At this point all of my thoughts are with the good people of the areas destroyed by this horrible disaster. At this point all I can do is wish you all a speedy and complete recovery from this nightmare that you didn't have to endure.

Quote Of The Day:

George Bush On The Katrina Catastrophe:
"The good news is -- and it's hard for some to see it now -- that out of this chaos
is going to come a fantastic Gulf Coast, like it was before. Out of the rubbles of
Trent Lott's house -- he's lost his entire house -- there's going to be a fantastic house.
And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch."

This while the sick and helpless lay dying throughout the Gulf Coast... Repulsive, ain't he?

Like Rats Scrambling To A Sinking Ship

Man, the Republicans are scampering like rodents today. I believe it is because they saw their political lives pass before their eyes in the last few days. As the crisis in the south reached a fever pitch with starving dehydrated afro Americans chanting "help help help" in unison outside the Superdome with a backdrop of a dead grandmother in her wheelchair stowed along a wall outside the very same sporting facility, the slumbering Republican damage control machine shifted into overdrive.

Up until today there wasn't a peep from these shameless hypocrites who rushed down to Florida last year after each and every one of the dveastating hurricanes to sling bags of ice to all the smiling Caucasians who drove by... after they signed a waver pledging their loyalty to the Dubya of course.

Well after 5 days of 24-7 news coverage of the death, destruction, burning, looting and hellish chaos I guess the Repugnatcans saw the '06 elections slipping away and went into high-speed "cover our ass mode". Finally we see trucks filled with food, finally we see trucks filled with water, finally we see busses for transportation and finally we see Bush doing his obligatory "walkthrough".

Now as far as Bush's "walkthrough" in Biloxi Miss. I must protest and here is why... Imagine if you will that CNN breaks away for a "this just in news flash". We, the viewers, are presented with images of Bush doing his "impromptu" tour of the devastated homes in Mississippi... and as if on cue, almost as though it had been set up (wink wink), two waif-like Afro American girls run up to Dubya and threw their arms around him and began weeping. What a wonderfully organic photo op... Gag, gack and finally hurl!!!! I forgot to mention that walking along side this "scene" was the Mayor and Gov. of Miss as well as a beefy all American looking lad who seemingly on cue High fives the Bush as he comforted the two small weeping waifs... It was a magical moment... Especially when Bush awkwardly angled the two clinging women toward the camera crew as you could hear the shutters from their cameras whirring in the background like ravenous cicadas.

I haven't seen anything that stilted or set up since Michael Jackson married Lisa Marie Presely!
